About El Kasbah
Nestled in Gibraltar’s historic old town on Castle Street, blending centuries of history with vibrant street art and North African cuisine. Housed in a centuries-old building, its brickwork reflects Gibraltar's Moorish, Spanish, and British influences. El Kasbah offers a welcoming space for dining and events like art workshops, yoga, and performances. Located near the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, it’s a perfect spot to relax and connect with local culture.
The Space
The restaurant is built within what is believed to be a water cistern which could later have acted as a munitions holding room. The brickwork on the wall provides a clear indication of Moorish rock placements, to hints of Spanish red brick below British limestone slabs. The roof itself is a concave shape of intricate brick work providing a cosy atmosphere for guests hidden beneath the steps of Castle Street.
